Dr Thomas Schroeder works as a Research Scientist and Scientific Programmer within the CSIRO Remote Sensing research group, which is part of the Environmental Observation and Landscape Science research program of the Land and Water Division.

Current Research

In his current research Dr Thomas Schroeder focuses on the development, validation and implementation of dedicated inversion algorithms for Australia's inland, coastal, marine and coral reef ecosystems using MODIS, MERIS and SeaWiFS satellite data in order to enable reliable mapping, detection and monitoring of aquatic resources.

    Integration and verification of the GOME version 4 data processor settings into the SCIAMACHY off-line data processor for the retrieval of  O3 and NO2 vertical column densities.

    Development of an operational aerosol correction algorithm for the retrieval of land surface reflectances from MERIS and MODIS measurements.

    Development of advanced inversion algorithms for the retrieval of chlorophyll-a, total suspended matter and gelbstoff from MERIS and SeaWiFS measurements based on inverse modelling of radiative transfer simulations by using artificial neural network techniques.
