Steve Marvanek is a Spatial Data Analyst working within the Spatial Analysis research group, which is part of the Environmental Observation and Landscape Science.
Current Activities
- Murray-Darling Basin Sustainable Yield project. Creating and developing core data layers for River Modelling and Water Assessment Teams as well as providing mapping assistance to the Reporting Team.
- Tasmanian Devil Facial Tumor Disease. Undertaking spatial analyses of devil monitoring and wildlife spotlight data to map the distribution and rate of spread of DFTD.
- National Atlas of Acid Sulfate Soils. Developing a standardised spatial layer mapping ASS across Australia and assisting in assessing the impact of drought on Acid Sulfate Soils.
- Providing GIS and mapping services to CLW and co-location partners as required.
Research Interests/Capabilities
- All aspects of spatial data generation, manipulation and analysis with a particular interest in raster modeling.
- Collation, integration and analysis of data from various sources and in various formats, including non-spatial data.
- “Spatialising” tabular data for manipulation in Geographic Information Systems
- Production of map images for presentations and reports
