Anu Kumar works within the Trace Organics and Risk Assessment research group, which is part of
the Environmental Biogeochemistry research program.
Current Research/Research Interests
- Assessment of pesticide impacts on the biological health of the aquatic ecosystems;
- Impacts of winery wastewater on the ecosystem health;
- Toxicity Identification and Evaluation (TIE) of effluents/stormwater;
- Application of biomarkers for screening and monitoring contaminants;
- Bioavailability of sediment-bound pesticides;
- Evaluation of mixture toxicity; and
- Impacts of Endocrine Disrupting Chemicals (EDCs).
Research Capabilities
Dr Anu Kumar conducts research in the area of ecotoxicology and possesses the following research capabilities:
- Ecotoxicological assessment of organic and inorganic contaminants,
- effluents, leachates and receiving waters;
- Use of cladocerans, freshwater shrimps, yabbies, rainbowfish, native frogs for freshwater testing;
- Use of polychaete worm, mulloway and oysters for marine testing;
- Sediment toxicity assessment;
- In situ biomonitoring; and
- In vitro screening test for endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs).
