Energy Smart Green Globe Award for Windscape Team

Both Congratulations to CSIRO Land and Water's Windscape team – Peter Coppin, Keith Ayotte and Nathan Steggel – who won the 2002 NSW Energy Smart Green Globe Award for the best new technology or application.

This award, backed by the NSW Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA), recognises major Australian achievements in energy efficiency and renewable energy.

CSIRO's WindScape™ is a world-leading wind energy resources mapping and prospecting system. It produces high-resolution maps of wind resources over large areas in any desired region of the globe without reference to surface data.

The technology can rapidly identify and assess in detail large numbers of wind farm locations, saving considerable time and resources in the early application of planning restraints. In Australia, clients range from state government departments to consultant engineers and wind farm developers.
