2003 Water Forum
On 29th April 2003 a Lower Burdekin Water Forum was held at the Ayr Civic Theatre, where over 60 participants met to discuss key issues of concern to the region.
Water, and the way we value, manage, and use water has received increasing attention from various sectors of society, and in some cases demands for changes to be made. The Lower Burdekin Water Forum provided an opportunity to hear from national and local speakers about some of the challenges and opportunities we face in addressing water reform and in positioning the lower Burdekin for the future. The forum encouraged input to the water debate, which needs to be disciplined and robust in order to develop and implement strategies that will help meet the social, economic and environmental needs of the lower Burdekin.
