Our future prosperity depends on the wise management of our most precious natural resource — water. The scientific challenges include the equitable allocation of our limited water resources, improving the water use efficiency of our agricultural enterprises and developing a more efficient water delivery infrastructure. Maintaining and improving water quality will also be a major challenge in the 21st century.
