Wodonga

CSIRO Land and Water is one of the partners in the Murray-Darling Freshwater Research Centre (MDFRC) which is based on La Trobe University campus in Wodonga. MDFRC is an unincorporated joint venture between CSIRO Land and Water, Murray-Darling Basin Commission, La Trobe University and Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, managed by MDFRC Pty. Ltd.

The MDFRC was established in 1986-87 as the main focus for a Murray-Darling limnological research program and houses a large reference collection of aquatic plants and animals. Its work includes investigating the causes and management of algal blooms, the importance of river-floodplain interactions, environmental flows as well as the ecology of wetlands.
