Posters

Abstracts for posters need to be submitted online by 31 March 2011; see abstract submission.

From 1 May 2011, these abstracts will be made available to other attendees on a non-public website.

Posters need to be displayed from the first day of the Symposium (1 August 2011). Velcro dots will be supplied to attach posters to the poster board.

Poster abstracts – but not posters – will be published in the peer-reviewed publication arising from the Symposium, which will be available by the end of December 2011.

Deadline

The deadline for the submission of abstracts for posters is 31 March 2011. The posters need to be displayed on 1 August 2011.

Layout

Posters should visually present the content of the submitted abstracts. They need to meet the following criteria:

  • Top of the poster should include:
    • Title: which should be the same as the submitted abstract
    • Contact information: the name, street address, email address and affiliation of all authors should appear on the poster
  • Headings: it is useful to include headings such as ‘Introduction’, ‘Methods’, ‘Results’, ‘Discussion’ and ‘Conclusion’
  • Content: the text should be brief, with concise and simple descriptions of methods
  • Size: maximum size is A0 (85 cm wide x 110 cm high)
  • Font size: the poster should be readable at a distance of two metres
    • Title: 60–72 point suggested, 100 point maximum
    • Heading: 48 point suggested, 60 point maximum
    • Content: 24–28 point suggested, 32 point maximum; single spaced
  • Handouts: handouts can be useful; for safety reasons, however, these cannot be placed on the floor. If you provide handouts, please provide in a holder that can be attached to the poster board with Velcro.
