Murrumbidgee Grain & Graze is one of eight regional projects in a national research program funded by GRDC, Land & Water Australia and MLA, aimed at improving the financial and environmental performance of mixed farming systems. The Murrumbidgee project focusses on managing farming technologies to optimise productivity across the whole farm, while protecting natural resources - particularly water, ground cover and species diversity.

The Murrumbidgee project involves research trials to investigate options such as grazing wheats and short term pastures to fill the autumn/winter feed gap on mixed farms. The impact of mixed farming enterprises on productivity and natural resources is also being monitored on Focus Farms in conjunction with local grower groups. Workshops and training will also be offered to cover a range of issues, including fodder budgeting.
