We provide excellent scientific expertise to enable the sustainable use of Australia's land and water resources.
CSIRO Land and Water, through its science
and partnerships, plays a powerful role
in bringing the nation closer to an environmentally
sustainable and economically viable future.
Scientific research at CSIRO
is shaping the future of land and water
resource management.
Our research activities reflect national
and international priorities. We’re
finding new ways to use less water in
agriculture and other industries, to re-use
or recycle urban and industrial waters
and wastes, while also protecting our
rivers, catchments and groundwater reserves.
And we’re tackling the problems
posed by contaminants in the environment,
designing the farming systems of the future
and investigating options for policy-makers.
With more than 600 staff throughout Australia,
we are well positioned to tackle these
priorities at both the regional and national
scale. We also tap into expertise in other
areas of CSIRO.
Such scientific breadth and depth is
essential to address complex environmental
challenges.
Multidisciplinary teams tackle land
and water
challenges with combined force. Most of
our work is performed in partnership with
government and research co-investors,
and CSIRO Land and Water is a major contributor
to the Water
for a
Healthy Country National Research
Flagship
Program.
The complexity and scale of the Australian
landscape continues to challenge the limits
of our understanding, but CSIRO has a
long-term commitment to research and development.
Our experience, when combined with the
knowledge and expertise of our partners
in industry, government, academia and
the Australian community, place CSIRO
Land and Water at the forefront of land
and water management in this country. |
